I am working with Pedro Cesar CarvalhoVerona for the background sound effects and the final soundtrack for my Final Major Project "THE FOG". We have been communicating and discussing our thoughts on this project. Following is the communication between me and Pedro.

I was just going through my emails and I did receive your previous email on Friday - I am sorry for the late response.

 

Since Sam Sutton told me about your VFX project and now, I got involved in another project - which on top of my work schedule and final assessments is going to extremely busy until the end of the semester.

 

Although I really wanted to I won't be able to collaborate with you because of those time constraints. I hope you can find someone to help you with your project and that it all goes well - I'm sorry I didn't contact you earlier about this situation Ali. Send an email to Sam because he might be able to find you someone else to work with.

No problem at all. It’s just I had to collaborate With some one form music for the course that’s why I reached out. I have a soundtrack ready, I am a musician my self so it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Thanks for letting me know.

I’m doing good thanks and hope you’re good as well. I didn’t find anyone but happy to work with you. So dead line is 7 June but if we are able to get it a week before 7 June that will be great. I will send you a detailed script about the scene. It’s not long, roughly less then a minute. I’m just at work at the moment but I’ll definitely be able to send you the scene details by tomorrow. Let me know if you need anything more. Thanks a lot for reaching out.

So this is my idea for the project. The first half will be the camera going around the building and it will be daytime, will be calm with no lights or fog, that will be around 12-18 seconds. An idea I had was that you can put some seagull sounds in there. The last 6 seconds however, the scene will be a bit dark with the lights turned on and a fog settling in, that scene will be the reveal of the sea monster. I have decided to create some tentacles that will be coming out of the water behind the building. I am working on that scene right now.

 

I was wondering if together with a soundtrack, can you add some sounds that can be related to the sea monster. In the first 12-18 seconds, it can be faint sounds hinting at the monster, feeling like its coming from a far. Then when the final scene of the video starts and the tentacles are out, you can amplify the monster sounds to the max with some more effects. How does that sound ??

 

Do let me know what ideas you have and let me know if anything's unclear.

Hi Pedro,

 

Hope you're well. I've come up with a 18 sec video for the project so far, it shows the starting and the ending scenes, I am working on the final thing. Hopefully, it'll give you a feel for what the whole thing will be like. The final shot should be a minute long so I just need that, plus some monster sounds as we discussed in earlier emails. I am sending you the video through we transfer. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi Pedro,

 

I will be adding this text at the start of my VFX short. Hopefully this will give you some more assistance with the sound track and effects process :) 

 

“In 1906, a few personnel from The Throgmorton Fishery group went on an expedition to hunt for a mysterious sea creature. 

 

The creature was never found but the divers were able to retrieve an enormous egg from from the depths of the sea.

 

Since returning with the egg, an unexplained bellowing sound could be heard every night and a strange fog always surrounded the area.

 

One fateful night...“

 

It will be around 20 seconds to work with, then the footage will begin.
